The years following World War II were the greatest
period of economic growth in this country's history.
The profits were calculated on rugged, practical
adding machines like this one.
Plain old arithmetic was good
enough for that generation. They didn't spend
their
days slicing and dicing derivatives, because they
didn't have the computational power to do it. It
was probably just as well for them that they didn't.
Here at Acme Traditionals, we use these very adding
machines in our accounts payable department. If it
means that payments to our suppliers are occasionally
delayed, we know that they are happy to wait, because
they can be sure that when the cheque arrives, it will
be for what we believe to be the right amount.
