Your work at the community, grassroots level is among the most important work in the arts today. You and your organization are giving everyone a chance to be involved in the arts--a chance to become part of their community through the arts. FROM MISSION TO MOTIVATION guides you toward a new perpective on "audience development." This model of planning for increasing arts involvement will enable you expand participation while remaining true to your mission. Also, it will help you understand participation in a way that positions you to develop strategies to build stronger levels of commitment in all aspects of your work. You'll learn to focus not on short-term results, but rather on the long-term investment of building active involvement. This publication is designed to be used in either of two ways: as part of a facilitated workshop, or as a self-guided team exercise to help your group build consensus around your goals and strategies.
