Thus the program name Cheqpt, designed to bring complementary, alternative therapies to the mainstream as soon as may be, while serving as a place where all ideas are scrutinized. More than two million people have visited this site in the last twelve months, and thousands have heard Ann Fonfa speak at various meetings. The mission of The Annie Appleseed Project is to provide information, education, advocacy and awareness for people with cancer about complementary, alternative medicine (CAM), and other issues. We support people with cancer making more fully informed treatment decisions. We are now members of the Society for Integrative Oncology, American Association for Cancer Research and the National Breast Cancer Coalition. OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS Our Board of Directors consists of Ms. Donna Weintraub (Secretary/Treasurer), CSW, High Falls, New York, Ms. Mahin Motamedi Witkowski (Vice President),TX and WI, and Ms. Ann Fonfa, Founder (President) (for more information on Ann, see below). We are seeking to appoint one or two new members due to the recent loss of one member (July 2006). Donna Weintraub has been a New York State Certified Social Worker (CSW-R) for twenty years. She has worked in various medical and mental health facilities, including Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. Se currently works part-time for three institutions in New York State. She hopes for improved access to health care, including therapies that are considered alternative to the status quo in America. Born on 9/19/42, Mahin Motamedi Witkowski has a BA in Business Management. She worked for Miller Brewing Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as Managing Editor of Employee Publications. She also worked for J.F. Ahern Co. in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, as Director of Marketing Communications. She then created Witkowski Graphics, a print communications business of which she was president. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999 she chose retirement from the business world and concentrated on natural healing. She joined the Amazons as well as the Iodine Listservs where she engages in exchange of information about CAM and natural healthy living.
