Simple Things a Practitioner Can Do
to create a more welcoming atmosphere (for diverse populations)
Sign:
This office appreciates the diversity of all women and men and does not discriminate based on race, age, religion, ability, marital status, sexuality, gender or perceived gender.
Change Forms:
Add partner/domestic partner/significant other to marital status areas.
Use of Language:
Refer to partner, not husband/wife.
Do not assume all women need birth control devices.
Know the location of mammographic and other equipment for differently-abled women.
Provide different size chairs for larger women/men.
