In the Spotlight: PayDirect's easy online payment system goes to work in your store.
Yahoo! PayDirect is a fast, safe way to send and receive money online. This great system for accepting payments from online shoppers is now available within your Yahoo! Store. A shopper makes a purchase by transferring money from their PayDirect account to your account -- no
credit card or billing address is required to complete an order! The transaction is sent securely to the Yahoo! PayDirect server, using only the customer's email address.
To enable PayDirect for your store, you need to associate a Yahoo! PayDirect account with the store. Go to "Order Form" under Order Settings in the Store Manager, then check "Yes" to allow PayDirect payments. If you already have a Yahoo! PayDirect account, it becomes your store's account. You may only enable one PayDirect account with your Yahoo! Store.

Technical Update: New, improved inventory management features.
We’ve added features to enhance the functionality of our inventory management tools.
If you use Database Inventory in your store, you can now:
-download your database from the Store Manager to your own computer as a CSV (comma separated values) file.
-select from one of three display options when you configure the message that the shopper sees in the inventory column. (You may choose to display the actual quantity of items available or a simple yes/no availability message.)
-set the default inventory to either "zero" or "infinity" when inventory information is missing for a specific item.

If you manage your own web server and use the Real-Time Inventory feature in your store, you can now:
-select from one of three display options when you configure the message that the shopper sees in the inventory column.
-create and send a custom text message to a customer who tries to order an item that is out of stock or unavailable.

Feature Update: Domain name registration comes to the Yahoo! Store Manager.
Now you can register and purchase a domain name directly from the Store Manager via back-end technology from Yahoo! Domains. If you haven't claimed a domain yet, this is a great opportunity to build your brand. Choose a name that reflects your business -- this will help
customers remember your online store and share the web address with their friends. A catchy domain name is a great asset for word-of-mouth marketing.
Domain registration costs $35 per year for each new domain name, and $10 per year to transfer a domain that you've already registered elsewhere. We'll also provide email forwarding for each of your domains. If you need to filter different types of inquiries to different people in your business, you can set up email forwarding for multiple mail accounts.

Store Building Tip: Great "headlines" create appealing, informative product pages.
Are you familiar with the "headline" field? This secondary name field is used to change the "Display Name" image on your product page and add limited HTML tags to your "Name" field. The "headline" field lets you control the look and feel of title text on a product page without affecting the actual title of the page, the shopping basket, or the name that appears in Yahoo! Shopping.
Use the "headline" feature if you have a long, descriptive product name and you don't want text to wrap below the image or scroll off the page. "Headlines" let you shorten the product name, add linebreak tags in the middle of a long title so it displays on more than one line, or add bold or italic tags to your product title.
Note: Don’t use HTML tags in the "Name" field. This will get you in trouble. The actual tags will show up within the browser title window - and you've probably seen how unprofessional that looks. Make headlines instead!
Thanks for the Feedback: Revised rating form gets another revision.
Last month, in response to your concerns, we revised the customer rating form. Now, thanks to your suggestions, we've fine-tuned the language and the process even more.
First, we changed the word "deliver' to "ship" in the rating tip that asks a customer to "consider the merchant’s customer service. Did they respond promptly and deliver on time?" Although merchants are responsible for prompt shipping, the delivery of packages is indeed out of the control of the merchant. Thanks for reading carefully and letting us know!
We also received abundant feedback on the anonymous rating feature. You let us know that online merchants need the ability to contact a customer in order to understand what prompted a particular rating. and respond appropriately to resolve a problem or improve some aspect
of customer service. Anonymity does not support a merchant's ability to upgrade the quality of service offered. We listened to your voices and "anonymous" is no longer a rating option.
