Bronze Flying Horse

16.25"W x 12.75"H x 5"D. Mounted on a solid wood scroll-shaped stand.

Just in - beautiful, museum quality replicas of the famous flying bronze horse and swallow from Eastern Han dynasty (206 BC to 220 AD)!

The original bronze piece was discovered in 1969, when villagers in the small town of Leitai, in Wuwei County, Gansu Province discovered an ancient tomb while digging foundations. Among the more than 200 relics found in the tomb, was the Flying Horse and Swallow. The horse's hoof is raised high as the startled swallow sets off the neighing, cleverly pivoting horse.

In the early 1970s, replicas from Taiwan flooded the market, but that supply has been depleted. In response to numerous customer requests, our dealer commissioned a small number of high quality replicas of this elegant and powerful statue, cast in the lost wax process. Though it measures just 17 3/4 inches from hoof to tail and is just 13 3/8 inches high, it embodies all the powerful characteristics attributed to horses in Chinese legend - strength, integrity and quick wit, in addition to being hardworking, perceptive and cheerful.

The Flying Horse will make an arresting accent piece in any home or office and carries the low price of just $225, including the solid wood stand (in rosewood or black). For those who are interested in function as well as an object d'art, our experts can convert the Flying Horse into a stunning lamp.
