Overview

“‘I shall take the heart,’ [said] the Tin Woodman; ‘for brains do not make one happy…You people with hearts…have something to guide you.’” Ah, the parallel lives of tin woodchoppers from Oz and playboy weapons manufacturers from Malibu. Iron Man is the story of billionaire genius Tony Stark; an unaccountable man plunged into a quest for his own heart—a quest that leads him to become an armored avenger.

Although Iron Man is a B-list Marvel Comics character, there is nothing B-list about this summer blockbuster and, in fact, it might even have a hint of conscience. This guide will help you consider some of the themes of Iron Man: penitence, purpose, and, power.
