While old family photographs are much treasured by genealogists, these irreplaceable images are lost each year by either being discarded or sold. This section of GenealogyMagazine.com serves as a clearinghouse of “lost” family photographs by posting scanned images of those rescued from antique stores, flea markets and estate sales. These "lost" photographs are marked by an asterisk (*). Otherwise, photographs appearing in this section are from our collection of old family albums and school yearbooks.

Each photograph includes a reference number, name of the person or place, the date and location (if known), and the caption as it appears on the original. In some instances, additional information has been added from census records and other sources. Genealogists are invited to contact us via e-mail and submit additional notes on a relative whose photograph is found in this collection.

Photographs are indexed below by surname and subject.
