Bauhaus
PUBLISHER'S COMMENT: With its roots in the Arts and Crafts movement, the German Werkbund, and other reformist movements in art and design, the Bauhaus school of art and architecture was founded by Walter Gropius in 1919, and attracted such designers as Josef Albers, Marcel Breuer, Werner Drewes, Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, László Moholy-Nagy, and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.
It was closed just fourteen years later when the Nazis came to power, yet Bauhaus style became one of the major influences of Modernist architecture, and continues to be expanded upon today.
This large volume thoroughly documents the varied output and inner philosophies of the Bauhaus, with photos and drawings on nearly every page.
