Many people are interested in ferrocement, and papercrete, and the two cross over in building use. Ferrocement is a wire mesh- or metal fibers embedded in a thin layer of cement, (usually with special additives). Once cured the mesh provides a tensile strength and framework for the cement, and thin layers can be used to form arches, roofs, walls and more.

Papercrete is a mix of cement, sandy dirt, and shredded paper for a lightweight insulated block or plaster. Papercrete can be spread over wire mesh, and formed into strong shapes. A high % cement papercrete can be easily used for garden art, furniture and sculpture... to start. The Ferrocement article on wikisend shows how to get started with basic ferrocement formulas. For clay & earth lovers you can substitute clay and lime for the cement, to make a natural binder, and add paper, or sawdust and still shape and form with wire or plastic mesh, woven twigs, lathe, etc. This article give you several ideas to jump start a project.
