Arrowroot Powder (8 oz)
Arrowroot Powder is a dietary starch derived from the Maranta arundinacea plant, found in Central American and the West Indies. It has a not-unpleasant taste very much like flour. Arrowroot Powder is used primarily as a thickening agent in delicate sauces and soups. Arrowroot Powder is also valuable as an easily digestible, nourishing diet for convalescents, especially in bowel complaints, as it has demulcent properties. It should be prepared into a smooth paste with a little cold milk or water, and then carefully stirred while the boiling milk is added. Lemon juice, sugar and natural flavoring ingredients and aromatics may be added.
