Ginger Root 500mg 100 Capsules

Ginger is most commonly known for its effectiveness as a digestive aid. By increasing the production of digestive fluids and saliva, Ginger may help to relieve indigestion, gas pains, diarrhea and stomach cramping.

Appearance

The ginger plant (Zingiber officinale) is an erect perennial growing from one to three feet in height. The stem is surrounded by the sheathing bases of the two-ranked leaves. The plant features a club-like spike of yellowish, purple-lipped flowers. The ginger family is a tropical group especially abundant in Indo-Malaysia, consisting of more 1200 plant species in 53 genera. The genus Zingiber includes about 85 species of aromatic herbs from East Asia and tropical Australia. The name of the genus, Zingiber, derives from a Sanskrit word denoting "horn-shaped," in reference to the shape of the roots.

History

The root of the ginger plant has been used in cooking and as herbal therapy by traditional healers for centuries. The ancient Greeks ate ginger wrapped in bread to prevent nausea following a huge feast. For a thousand years, Chinese sailors have taken ginger to avoid seasickness. A proverb from ancient India maintains that everything good can be found in ginger. It has long been a favorite culinary spice in the cuisines of many cultures. Ginger’s traditional role in herbal therapeutics has been as a remedy for nausea, motion sickness, heartburn, vomiting, stomach cramps and loss of appetite.

The use of this herbal supplement is a traditional nutritional use that is not intended to be prescribed for, or to treat any disease, and does not claim to cure any disease, including diseases involving fevers, colds, flu or invading organisms.

Caution: As with any dietary or herbal supplement, you should advise your health care practitioner of the use of this product. If you have ulcers, gallstones or are nursing, pregnant, or considering pregnancy, you should consult your health care provider prior to taking this product.
