The sensor pad, monitoring the baby’s lightest movements, sends off a loud acoustic alarm if the baby stops breathing for 20 seconds. It also raises an alarm if the baby breathes only 8 times in one minute. The first situation alerts the parents. The second will also awaken the baby. This device therefore offers additional protection from apnea, where babies sometimes forget to breathe when they are sleeping. |

| The Nanny baby-breath monitor consists simply of a sensor pad which is placed under the baby’s mattress, and a connecting alarm unit which is attached to the crib or mounted on the wall. Neither the pad nor the alarm unit come into direct contact with the baby. The alarm unit is battery operated, thus there is no electrical danger to the baby. The sensor pad is the largest on the market today, being 40% larger than the next size down. It can be used under mattresses up to 5 l/2 inches or 14 cm thick. |
 The control unit also provides a visual alarm. It as a smiley face, an unhappy face and a picture of a battery. When the battery picture comes on, usually after 6 months, it is time to replace the standard AA batteries. As simple as that. This monitor can also be upgraded to be used with 2 sensor pads. |
