After spending almost 3 years on research, design and testing the product has evolved to its final form. VF's Vortech supercharger unit will increases your Miata's engine power by 50% (stage 1) at the flywheel. The most thrilling aspects of this kit are the simple 1 piece bolt on bracket and a revolutionary fuel management chip. Acceleration from standstill is awesome and gives the feeling of a capacity increase. Horsepower and torque increase progressively with the revs. Idle and part throttle retain the stock feel. The stock crank belt system is retained. The Miata supercharger system replaces the stock air intake system. The main bracket is made from pocketed billet aircraft grade aluminum and is fitted onto factory toleranced mounting points together with an integrated belt tensioner. Air is drawn in through a K&N induction filter, the boost is routed from the supercharger to the throttle body. Ducting is manufactured from ceramic polish aluminum coated steel as used in the race header industry. Everything is provided in the kit. No major modifications are required and the kit can be removed as easily and quickly as is fitted. The kit is setup to provide reliable and dependable power on this 4 cylinder engine making it a good choice for those using their car as a daily driver yet demanding the extra instant power. The kit takes about 4-6 hours to install making it one of the easiest and cleanest modifications you will ever do for an instant 50% hp gain. 10 bolts and 12 hose clamps are all it takes to fit the kit. What makes this kit very special is not just the high efficiency US made centrifugal supercharger but also the proprietary fuel management chip which is specific to each variation of ECU. Mazda stores the stock fuel and timing maps in a chip in the ECU. VF's chip replaces it and contains specially reconfigured fuel, timing and sensor maps. To provide a safe air/fuel mixture, VF has redesigned these maps with many hours of full load and drivability testing on a chassis dyno using a wide range lambda sensor. It was found that the stock injectors could flow more fuel than we actually need with our kit and still leave the a/f ratio to run at 13:1. Chip tuning is regarded as the purest form of fuel management as it is the same principal used by the vehicle manufacturer. Gone are the days when you have to use bigger injectors without trimming idle fuel, or use additional injectors spliced into your fuel line, or tamper and bluff temperature and fuel pump signals with 'black boxes' for secondary 'after-thought' fueling solutions. Fuel re-management is a vital aspect of any aftermarket modification and so often neglected. Chip tuning the Miata has provided full control of the engines electronics and also the ability to change the rpm limiter and speed governors (subject to country). Using the VF-Engineering chip you will be safe knowing that your timing and fuelling maps are properly adjusted for our supercharger kit. Fitting the chip is simple. When your order is ready, send in your ECU to VF's office. They will de-solder the OE chip and fit one of their sockets. The chip is then push fitted onto the ECU. The stock chip is returned to you if you wish to remove your kit. Your ECU and kit are then shipped straight back to you. Upgraded chips are easy to fit. We send you the updated chip, and to replace your current chip, you just release it by hand and push in the update. If your ECU is received by 11:00am it can even be turned around THE SAME DAY!
