  
An international jury of curators has selected the following finalists for the HUGO BOSS PRIZE 2004: Franz Ackermann (Germany), Jeroen de Rijke and Willem de Rooij (Netherlands), Rivane Neuenschwander (Brazil), Simon Starling (United Kingdom), Rirkrit Tiravanija (Thailand), and Yang Fudong (China). The short list embodies the diverse, international character of contemporary art. The winner of the fifth biennial HUGO BOSS PRIZE will be announced on November 9, 2004, followed by an exhibition of the prize-winning artist’s work to be presented in early 2005 at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York. This informative publication gives biographical information on each of the finalists, as well as an overview of their work.
Previous recipients of the HUGO BOSS PRIZE are: Matthew Barney (United States; 1996); Douglas Gordon (Scotland; 1998); Marjetica Potrc (Slovenia; 2000) and Pierre Huyghe (France; 2002).
