27 Soldiers (World War II) This documentary newsreel depicts the polyglot Allied armies engaged in the Italian campaign of 1943-45. All of the armies get a mention in this film, a fine example of the art of documentary filmmaking. During the Italian campaign this polyglot army was a problem to supply, especially with respect to food. One army could not eat this and another could not eat that. So many armies produced a total confusion of weapons and ammunition. The Italian campaign was a quartermaster's nightmare-- times 27! USA, 1945, B&W, 10 minutes.
