Using the Assamese edition of the Leading to Choices manual, WLP and our partner organization the Center for Organization Research and Education (CORE) organize leadership training workshops with indigenous women in India's northeast region, where endemic armed conflict has heightened tension surrounding issues such as land rights, the sex trade and trafficking, governance, and civil society building. Indigenous women in that region suffer less gender discrimination than indigenous Indian women in other areas of the country, but they find the distinctive participatory leadership methodology of Leading to Choices beneficial in envisioning and developing collective solutions for local problems relating to trade and educational institutions, for example, as well as in approaching larger issues such as conflict resolution.
