This granite Garden statue is a one of a kind sculpture, hand carved by the artists of south India using a hammer and chisel. For outdoor, indoor and temple use. |
It is easy to recognize the skill
and artistry that went into the carving of this piece. She is beautiful, a
work of a master! The beauty of her face is disarming. She stands
staring into the mirror as if she were peering into her own soul.
Her slender and curvaceous body make an "S" shape as it flows from the hand
raised over her head down through her midsection to her protruding hips and
finally ending solidly on the ground. The hand over her head balances out
the piece on one side while the mirror and her hips balance the other side.
The piece has perfect balance and proportion!
The contrast between the polished black granite and the rough cut granite brings
an added dimension to the piece and further brings out the fine detail in the
jewelry that adorns the mirror woman. The polished granite is especially
black which is a testament to the quality of Indian granite. The rough
carved details like her hair, earrings, necklaces, bangles, the scarf which hang
between her bosom up to her forearm, and her leggings all explode from the
piece. This is due to the contrast of the polished black granite with the
rough cut details. The peacock at her feet with its
rich tail plumage provides the finishing touches on a contemporary sculptural
masterpiece.
