  
The deity Hanuman is the remover of obstacles and the "knower of all hearts." Offering praise to Hanuman through the "Hanuman Chalisa," a 40 stanza prayer that details the stories and accomplishments of Hanuman, can help one to achieve greater purity of mind and spirit. This joyful, and rather simplistic singing of the Chalisa was designed by Krishna Das to help newcomers to this special devotional chant to learn it with ease. He urges listeners to start by listening to the second disc in this set, which presents the Chalisa chanted slow, so that beginners can accurately learn the pronunciation. Returning to the first disc, Krishna Das provides several different renditions of the Chalisa, from a straightforward kirtan-style manner of singing ("Shri Ram Chalisa") to a more contemporary Western approach ("Good Ole Chalisa"}. Includes a chorus of backing singers, light rhythm, harmonium ambience and some subtle strings.
