VIERNE: Messe Solennelle for 4-part mixed choir and two organs MULET: Tu Es Petra; TOURNEMIRE: Prelude et Fresque HAKIM: The Embrace of Fire

Sacre Coeur Basilica contains a Cavaillé-Coll organ of 1898 which was relocated from a castle and enlarged to 108 ranks in 1905 by Charles Mutin, the organ was well restored in 1985 by Jean Renaud. The Vierne mass is recorded as a memento of the inaugural concert of the restored organ which took place on May 27, 1985, when two sections were performed (the entire mass is recorded here) by the same forces: the choirs of Sacre Coeur, St. Michael’s Anglican Church, and the American Church in Paris conducted by Philippe Maze; Connie Glessner, organist at the chororgel; and Fred Gramann, organist at the main organ. Then, Naji Hakim fabulously performs the other works.
