Conjure: Visiting a nearby graveyard, high-profile illustrator
Matt Busch stumbles upon an old photograph of a South-American castle.
Obsessed with the photo, Matt begins to bring the castle to life with
a vibrant full-color painting. At the same time, he creates sinister sketches
of the tortured souls who he imagines inhabit the gothic dwelling.
While Matt creates his cryptic world in his studio, his girlfriend Sarah
is confronted with phantom encounters throughout the rest of the home.
The more Matt conjures the spirits through his art, the more intense these
ghostly encounters become.
Eventually the art becomes so real, that Matt and Sarah find themselves
manifested in the actual castle, lost in the never-ending jungles of South
America. There they must find a way home, and confront the demonic spirits
conjured from Matt's twisted nightmares.
Conjure
was written, directed, and produced by award winning illustrator Matt
Busch - mostly known for his work on properties such as Star Wars,
The Crow, and Lord Of The Rings. Busch also plays himself in the movie,
as does real-life model-artist Sarah Wilkinson, who has worked on Star
Wars, Lord Of The Rings and My Little Pony projects.
Conjure was shot primarily in North Hollywood, California, and Busch's
Planetmatt Studios in Macomb, Michigan, with additional locations in Beverly
Hills and New York City. Shot digitally, Conjure boasts over 300 digital
effect shots - unheard of for an independent movie.
