MFB

a bit of historical information on MFB...

MFB was founded in 1976 by engineer Manfred Fricke. The first MFB products were primarily for the Videogame Industry. A low cost drummachine was introduced in 1979. In 1980 the legendary drumcomputer MFB-501 was completed and sold. Although it was not the most prominent drumcomputer of that time it surely was one of the best selling drum machines in Germany. MFB-501s sold 10 times more than Roland TR-808s in local shops. More products for the musician followed, such as the Digital-Sequencer MFB-601 and the digital drum machine MFB-512. These products had great features and were offered at low prices. In 1984 the E-Drum module series 1000 and 2000 with corresponding pads were introduced. A new construction period started in 1986 with product launches of the MIDI-CV converter MFB-201 and the MIDI drummer MFB-712. The MFB-712 was ahead of its time offering 40 sounds that could be played by keyboard or sequencer. The MFB-SYNTH was finished in 1997, although its development dates back to the eighties. As of 2001, due to lack of interest in analogue synthesizer technology, the machine never went into production. In the year 2001, the company celebrated their 25th anniversary. In the same year Manfred Fricke also developed another new MIDI drum-module, the MFB-KULT. The MFB_KULT includes most of the popular sounds of the older machines. Both MFB-SYNTH and MFB-KULT have been available since December 2001. Due to constant requests for the digital sequencer MFB-601, a successor MFB-602 was introduced in May 2002. In August 2002 a little brother of the MFB-SYNTH, the MFB-SYNTH LITE was introduced.

When we opened our shop back in 2002, we loved the MFB-SYNTH LITE, a little and inexpensive growling analog mono-synth. Then they vanished from our radar for a bit, but now they are back - with a line of really killer and inexpensive analog and digital instruments, filters, and even a video mixer!
