The roaring twenties were gone. The bright lights and glitter were no longer glowing. The date was February 25, 1929, the place Bells, Tennessee, Crockett County, a small Southern town which until now was bustling with business. Although no one knew at this time the great depression would begin promptly on October 29th of this very same year, and would shake this great nation to its foundation. This is a true story of how one family coped and survived this situation while living in the Cypress Community among friends and neighbors - and then on through World War Two when no one knew for sure how or even when - it would end. |
