A charming abode for Purple
Martins but not European Starlings. This 12-compartment,
starling-resistant house from Heath is constructed of cedar due
to the durability, longevity and insect repelling capacity of the
wood. Good ventilation is a must for the health of the martins.
In this house, vents are found not only in the attic, but also at
each 6" x 6" compartment. The hinged entrance hole
panels are easily opened for monitoring and nest removal. Each of
the 12 compartments of the house has a separate porch to
discourage male martin domination. Due to the weight of this
house, the manufacturer recommends using the Heath Martin House
Pole to facilitate raising and lowering of the house. With proper
maintenance and colony management, this durable home will keep
purple martins (not starlings) returning year after year.
No assembly required.
