Website Applications & Content Developer
Experienced website Applications & Content Developer needed to create and maintain applications and dynamic content for our busy and award-winning ecommerce stores and other websites.
The qualified candidate will possess a four year degree in Computer Science or have the equivalent work experience. One to three years experience in a Web-related position on a business-to-consumer ecommerce site is strongly preferred.
This position requires excellent communication (both verbal and writing), creative and organizational skills. Must possess knowledge of Internet coding technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, CGI Programming Languages), software tools (Dreamweaver, Photoshop), software development principles (Web design, quality testing), Internet protocols, Internet security, Relational Database design and management. Ability to manage workload independently with excellent attention to detail is vital.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Work with IT to design, debug, maintain and document customized web applications and scripts including ePages, Yahoo! Store, XML data feeds, and in-house applications using Perl, PHP, ASP.Net, JavaScript, RTML and other languages as needed.
Perform content and application feature updates to the site(s) for other departments within Company.
Create and maintain dynamic content and applications on all Company websites. Add, change and delete content by updating text and image files, template code, data in databases, and software-specific fields.
Develop a working knowledge of our software, Web technologies and programming and scripting languages.
Assist with the integration of third-party content and applications accessed through links on our site(s).
Use tools/applications such as Excel, Access, MySQL and Application Code to manipulate data in an effort to automate/streamline website updates.
Assist with website product maintenance as needed.
Assist with the development, maintenance, dissemination and adherence to departmental Action Plans on a year-round basis.
Responsible for Turn-the-Walls participation as required during Peak Periods.
Product Designer
This position is responsible for research into viable products and development of designs and presentation of designs for purposes of line selection and actual production of product. This may include all aspects of product- packaging, body style and prints.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will participate in all aspects of Merchandising and Product Development- initial research into market trends, working with Product Information to assure we have useful historical information in setting direction and participation in discussions surrounding developing open slots for products in all lines of business.
Will create sketches and artwork for presentation of ideas and participate in the actual discussions surrounding how we move forward with product.
Will create prototypes, artwork, sketches and any other items deemed necessary for the adequate evaluation of product for inclusion into lines.
Position is responsible for creation of communications that will aid all Product Development, Operational and Marketing personnel in the smooth processing of product.
Must understand costing aspects of all products to adequately develop products to price points.
Must stay on top of appropriate trends concerning our businesses and look outside of actual categories for inspiration and ideas, concerning overall direction of designs. Will constantly develop unique ways to garner creativity company-wide concerning product development and is responsible for communication of lines company-wide for each season (product kick-offs).
Will aid the sourcing department in creation of product specs- where needed and necessary, to assure smooth and timely processing of product.
Is responsible for working within developed time-lines in creation of products- prioritizing and managing time effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have design degree and/or associated work experience. Must have an open creative sense and be willing to work in a collaborative creative environment.
Web Designer
Vermont Teddy Bear is proud to be one of the top-rated stores on the Internet and we’re looking for a Web Designer with excellent communication and organization skills to help manage our interactive e-commerce websites. Must have an advanced understanding of user-interface and Web 2.0 design sensibilities, and be comfortable converting Photoshop mockups into hand-coded pages using HTML and CSS. Recognizing the importance of typography and how it relates to the design is a plus. Working knowledge of Adobe CS3 Design Premium applications & social media networks (Facebook, YouTube, MySpace) is required.
In this position you will work closely with other designers and developers to design web-specific marketing materials that drive sales. We are looking for a proven team player who is comfortable in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities while juggling multiple projects at once. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of initiative and managerial/supervisory experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide graphic design for websites that is consistent with the overall corporate design, yet takes advantage of techniques and methodologies available outside of the print design world.
Ensures that designs are implementable within the framework of existing platforms.
Work with catalog production team to ensure that the proper photography is being shot to meet the needs of our online objectives. This may include duties from reviewing the plans for shoots to attending actual photo shoots.
Work with the catalog production team to develop and implement a process to ensure that images are available and processed for use online.
Become involved with social media channels in an effort to increase and extend the presence of our brands online. This could include social networking sites, viral marketing efforts, interactive games, etc…
Work with affiliate and loyalty marketing to design and produce assets for email marketing campaigns. This includes the actual mailings and any associated landing pages necessary to maximize the success of the campaign.
Stay current in best practices for design and implementation of email marketing messages. This includes techniques for maximizing open rates, deliverability, and conversion.
Assist in production and site maintenance tasks as requested by eCommerce Director.
Develop, maintain, disseminate and adhere to departmental Action Plans on a year-round basis.
Adhere to VTB's inventory control policies and procedures.
Responsible for Turn-the-Walls participation as required during Peak Periods.
Follow all ergonomic standards and safety requirements directed by VTB and the department.
Responsible for writing peer reviews and management assessments as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires strong design, communications, and organizational skills as well as experience with image processing software, web development software, social media, and word processing software. A high level of accuracy is expected.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
Four-year college degree required. HTML and 4 years web design experience preferred.
