The recent hard boilerplate snow surface in Maryland has made biking difficult - but not impossible. Mikamal, Matt, Chuck, and Phil did a Thurs. nite ride on the compacted (seriously compacted like a brick - solid) snow surface and reported one of the best rides of the year... They were able to ride anywhere without having to worry about staying on the actual trail because the whole surface was frozen over and you could ride anywhere! Unbelievable, as the day before you could barely walk on the hard snow without slipping and going down. But the bikes seemed to have good traction in most areas and riding was uniquely awesome!!! So, the non-bikable conditions from the day before either changed or the snow was slightly different in some areas and ridable with regular tires (one rider -Mike D. had 100 screws he put in each tire) Anyhow, the moral of the story is don't let the snow stop you if you want to ride... as a matter of fact, if you really want to ride you can often ride in conditions you may think difficult but actually turn out to be great fun!!! ride on ~the MaNiMaL~
