First and foremost, this helmet complies with the U.S. CPSC safety standard for persons over the age of 5. Since it is made by Bell, it's safety is built in... Weighing in at under 11 ounces, this helmet is not much heavier than the cardboard box it comes in. When holding it, it seems light as a feather! As a rider 6'6", the medium - large size has a perfect fit, and didn't require any of the extra padding provided with the helmet. It was very comfortable to wear, and with the "half-nelson" strap in the back, it didn't move when you nod your head forcefully up and down. Very nice! Extremely aerodynamic, the visor cuts the air in front, and the back is tapered to a point for good airflow at speed. Also, the back venting is exceptionally good to keep a cool neck on hot days, and has 6 air vents located here. Very comfortable to ride with, you can easily forget you have it on! There is a small "sweatband" built into the helmet on the forehead area to absorb sweat, and prevent dripping into your eyes, although I usually ride with an additional sweatband on hot days (and wrist bands to - to wipe the sweat while riding) The visor is a great feature, keeps out sun and rain, and also deflects your helmet from tree limbs and branches on tight singletrack. It helps to protect your eyes! A great feature to have... All-in-all, a great lightweight, comfortable and ergonomic helmet! The only thing it may lack is some of the "fancy" graphics. The grey-black color is low key, earthy, and pleasant while not overbearing or flashy...~~MaNiMaL~~ *This helmet can be adjusted to fit a wide range of sizes by using the padding provided. When correctly adjusted, it should fit your head firmly and comfortably, and cause the skin on the forehead to move as the helmet moves. *The small-medium size fits most kids between the age of 5 and 14. The medium-large size fits most adults and teenagers. Padding is added only as necessary. *When placing the helmet on your head and pulling down on it, you should feel the top of the helmet hitting the top of your head. If not, add some padding to the top. If it is too loose, add some padding to the sides and maybe the top. |
