"Always On His Mind" is a beautiful collection of modern day psalms and the latest CD from Misty Edwards, a worship leader and prophetic singer from International House Of Prayer (IHOP) in Kansas City Missouri.

By the third song, the title track, it become apparent that this is an album marked by intense intimacy:

"Lord I will seek you/on my bed, think upon you
In the day, dream about you/You're always on my mind"

Misty goes on to declare: "I'm in love with God/God's in love with me." These songs are intimate and honest. Listening to the CD, one almost feels like they are eavesdropping on a conversation between two lovers, one desiring deeper understanding and experience, the other lover asking for surrender and trust. These are also songs of grace, but not in the traditional sense of singing about grace and recounting the work of the cross. It's more like belonging in the Eternal's presence is a given, so the songs don't speak of how we can now enter in His presence, they are sung from the point of a life lived in His presence.

Musically, "Always On His Mind" is also impressive. Some songs like "See The Way" have a great indie rock feel, and the track "What Only You Can Do" is a brilliant piece of piano pop. Edward's voice is absolutely gorgeous and the same can be said for her melodies. To be honest, there are few moments on the CD that I just couldn't get into. There are a couple of intense, meandering songs that didn't really grab me, but that's not to say they won't have great value and impact other people.

To those who aren't really into prophetic worship, I say don't make the mistake of dismissing this CD like I almost did. "Always On His Mind" is a beautiful CD that celebrates the reciprocation of love between Christ and His church.
