Working with the Video Project
AN INTRODUCTION TO EDUCATIONAL DISTRIBUTION
Want to learn about educational video distribution? Whether
you have a finished video, are still in production, or just starting
with a great idea, it helps to know about distribution early.
No matter how inspired, visually appealing, or timely your video
is, without good distribution it won't get seen. We've put together a short intro to educational video distribution
that you may download here:

A FEW GUIDELINES
Some producers are aware of general production values that result
in programs that teachers will use. For example, elementary and
high school programs are ideally no more than 26 min. 30 seconds
in length (the perfect length for PBS or cable broadcast), or
are divided into stand-alone segments, and have no nudity or profanity.
When a producer is working on a subject suitable for our collection,
we are happy to view rough-cuts and provide feedback.
We also represent films that primarily
focus on retail markets. The length of films for retail markets
are usually longer -- from thirty minutes to feature length.
TO SUBMIT A PROGRAM
So you've already scanned our collection and believe the content
of your program is within the scope of "media for a safe
and sustainable world."
Then send us a 1/2 inch VHS tape in NTSC format and any background
information you deem important. This may include a description,
production dates, background on any of the speakers, quotes from
other people that have previewed it, any plans you may have for
producing a study guide and any history of prior distribution
including quantities and pricing. Please include your e-mail address
in the correspondence and send to:
